A Tribute to Patrick Swayze

One of my favorite Patrick Swayze movies is "Roadhouse". Perhaps because I am a guy, but also because I grew up in Japan, where the philosophy his character tried to follow is a reality.

I believe in this case, that Art was imitating Life - that Patrick Swayze himself tried to live his own life that way - with eyes open discipline and seeking to be, well, purely himself.

He made many movies, several little known ones like "One LastDance", "To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar", "Icon", "Black Dog", and others.

You can take a look and find them here: Patrick Swayze Lives!

My Mother Loved The Arts

She loved ballet, music, and oil painting, which she was pretty good at herself. She passed this interest on to me.

She loved Hollywood, and the great actors and actresses of the past, with an unabashed admiration.

Now, she is not too crazy about TV. She feels the quality of TV has steadily deteriorated over the years, and I suppose she is right about that. TV used to have more class.
